Car Crashes Into Montclair Restaurant

The vehicle ran a red light, struck another car and jumped the curb, police said.

A motorist ran a red light, smashed into another vehicle and plowed into a Montclair restaurant on Tuesday morning.

According to Montclair police, the accident took place around 10:10 a.m., when a car traveling north on Grove Street ran a red light. The car hit another vehicle – which crashed into a third vehicle – then jumped the curb and drove through the front of Marzullo’s Restaurant and Café.

The accident caused significant damage to the building and its front window, but the only reported injury was a small laceration to one driver’s arm which didn’t require hospitalization.

Two summonses were issued to the driver who allegedly caused the accident: one for running a red light and another for having an unregistered vehicle.

Police are conducting an investigation.

In April, another car jumped the curb outside a toy store on Bloomfield Avenue, hitting a Girl Scout that was selling cookies outside the building. [See related Patch article]
