Car Fatally Strikes 83-Year-Old Pedestrian In Montclair: Authorities

A pedestrian died after a car crash in Montclair. The driver remained at the scene, authorities said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A car struck and killed a pedestrian in Montclair last weekend, authorities announced Monday.

The fatal collision took place at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Bellevue Avenue and Park Street, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Montclair Police Department.

The victim – Vivian Folkenflik, 83, of Montclair – was transported to Mountainside Medical Center and pronounced dead at 1 p.m.

The driver remained at the scene, authorities said. No arrests have been made.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Crime Scene Investigations Bureau is investigating Folkenflik’s death. Authorities said anyone with information can contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.

The crash was the second road fatality that happened on Saturday in Essex County.
