Car Flips Into Montclair Yard; Cops Charge Driver With DWI

Montclair police found the vehicle, minus two of its wheels, laying on its roof in a South Mountain Avenue yard.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair police charged a local driver with DWI after his car flipped over with a passenger inside and landed in a South Mountain Avenue yard on Sunday, authorities say.

According to the Montclair Police Department, officers responded to a report of a single motor vehicle crash in the area of South Mountain Avenue and Bloomfield Avenue on Sept. 10.

On arrival, the officers found two car wheels laying in the street. They found the rest of the vehicle – minus the pair of wheels – laying on its roof in a South Mountain Avenue yard.

The Montclair Fire Department responded to the scene and extricated two trapped occupants of the vehicle, including the driver, Anthony Singh, 46, of Montclair.

Emergency responders transported Singh and the passenger to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

Authorities later charged Singh with DWI. Authorities also charged the passenger and registered owner of the car, Argirios Karydes, 34, of Montclair, with permitting an intoxicated person to operate his vehicle.
