ChaiCycle Is Finally Back—And This Time On An Electric Bike!

You can request a stop through Facebook or Twitter

After a long absence, the ChaiCycle is back this week, finally making the rounds in Montclair again, fresh off a first place win at the North American Tea Championship last month.

And this time, the ChaiCycle is running on an electric bike (A2B) provided by Ultra Motor whose sole dealer in town is on Bloomfield Avenue.

"The bike is awesome as it allows me to travel 20 miles at 20 miles per hour with one full battery," said ChaiCycle owner and Montclair resident Ricardo Dacosta, aka "the Chai guy." "I can go to more places quicker."

Dacosta also won first place in 2011 and his addictive Original Masala Chai was the star of the Chai category at the only professionally judged tea competition in North America!

Typically, you can buy a steamy cup at one of Montclair's train stations or outside the YMCA or you can buy his blends through his company Yogic Chai.

Dacosta, a yoga teacher, started his web-based tea business in 2007, selling a wide range of aromatic Indian blends. Dacosta then decided to use his ChaiCycle (rhymes with bicycle) to take his tea to the masses at locations around town.

Dacosta now is also selling his Chai at and at at the Isabel Rose Cafe at the Montclair Public Library.
