UPDATE: Cops Make Arrest In Hit-And-Run That Left MSU Student In Coma

Police have arrested a North Arlington man accused of striking a Montclair State University student with his truck.

Authorities arrested a North Arlington man on Thursday after conducting an intensive investigation into a hit-and-run that left a 22-year-old Montclair State University Student in a coma and fighting for her life.

The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office is alleging that Michael Choynowski, 27, struck Anna Semioli, of Moonachie, with his Dodge Ram pickup truck while she was walking east along Route 46 in Clifton just after midnight on Oct. 9.

Semioli was found in the roadway by a tract of woods along Route 46, just before the exit for Valley Road, NJ News 12 stated.

Police arrested Choynowski on Thursday and charged him with Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting In Serious Bodily Injury, and Endangering an Injured Victim.

According to prosecutors, the investigation included reviewing recovered video of the area, identification of the vehicle’s driver, recovery of the vehicle and the interviewing of a possible witness.

Semioli’s family and a local business had teamed up to offer a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Semioli - a senior accounting major who was due to graduate in the spring - remains hospitalized at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, the Montclarion reported on Thursday.
