CVS says it's hiring for 900 jobs in New Jersey – ASAP

NEW JERSEY — CVS Health is hiring for 25,000 clinical and retail jobs across the nation, including hundreds in New Jersey, the company announced Monday.

The pharmacy retailer’s major hiring initiative includes 900 positions in New Jersey, which will be filled “as soon as possible.”

“These new and existing positions will help the company continue to respond to the needs of communities across the country during the fall and winter months when the incidence of flu is expected to increase, and as COVID-19 vaccination and testing remain in high demand,” spokespeople said.

In New Jersey, most of the available 900 positions are for full-time, part-time and temporary licensed pharmacists, trained pharmacy technicians and nurses. Additional roles that are part of the company’s recruiting efforts include retail store associates who provide customer service, assist with purchases and manage store inventory.

They’ll be put to work at CVS Pharmacy locations; a list of the specific stores wasn’t immediately available.

In August, CVS Health raised the corporate-wide minimum wage to $15 an hour, effective July 2022, with incremental increases to the company’s competitive hourly rates starting immediately. Other opportunities for full-time employees include paid training and a benefits package that includes vacation, seven paid holidays and one floating holiday, health/dental/vision insurance, an employee discounted stock purchase program, a 401K with company match, tuition reimbursement and a 20 to 30 percent employee discount at CVS retail stores.

According to a news release:

"Qualified candidates can apply immediately for these open positions using our mobile apply feature by texting ‘CVS’ to 25000 to learn about jobs in their local area and enter a streamlined digital screening process that facilitates an online application, virtual job tryout and immediate hiring."

In addition to flu vaccinations, the accelerated hiring campaign will aid the company in administering COVID-19 booster shots, pending regulatory approval, while continuing to offer shots to those who have yet to be vaccinated for COVID-19 and patients seeking testing at CVS Pharmacy locations across the country.

CVS Health has administered more than 34 million COVID-19 vaccines and more than 32 million tests, spokespeople said.

“Every flu season we need additional team members, but this year we’re looking for even more,” said Neela Montgomery, executive vice president of CVS Health and President of CVS Pharmacy.

“With the continued presence of COVID-19 in our communities, we’re estimating a much greater need for pharmacists, trained pharmacy technicians, nurses and retail store associates,” Montgomery said. “These jobs offer a rewarding opportunity to really make an impact on public health in our country.”
