DeCamp Bus Kills Essex County Woman In NJ, Police Release ID

A DeCamp bus struck and killed an 82-year-old Essex County woman as she was crossing the street, authorities say.

Authorities have released the identity of a West Orange woman killed in a pedestrian strike involving a DeCamp bus on Thursday.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, the fatal pedestrian strike took place around 9:30 a.m. in West Orange.

Prosecutors said that a DeCamp Bus was traveling east on Mississippi Avenue when its driver attempted to make a left turn onto Harrison Avenue, striking Dilma Khan, 82, of West Orange, as she was crossing the street.

The bus driver remained at the scene, rendered assistance and called police, prosecutors stated.

Khan was pronounced dead at 10:07 a.m., according to prosecutors.

As of Thursday evening, the bus driver has not been charged with a crime, but an investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
