Essex County Teacher, Coach Charged With Sexually Assaulting 2 N.J. Teens: Prosecutor

The accused teacher received an award when he reportedly helped to save the life of a student in June.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Authorities have charged an Essex County teacher and track coach with sexually assaulting two teenage males at his home.

On Thursday, police arrested Leo Donaldson, 30, of Bloomfield, an architecture teacher and track/cross-country coach at Bloomfield High School, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Bloomfield Police Department.

Authorities charged Donaldson - formerly known as Leo Inglima - with First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault, Second Degree Sexual Assault by Contact, Third Degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

According to prosecutors, Donaldson is alleged to have sexually assaulted the 15 and 17-year-old males at his home in Bloomfield and his previous residence in Jersey City during 2015 and 2016.

His bail was set at $400,000 cash or bond with no 10 percent option.

Donaldson received the American Heart Association’s New Jersey American Heartsaver Award in June when he reportedly helped to save the life of a Bloomfield High School sophomore who collapsed during track practice.
