Essex County Wants Your E-Junk: Computer Recycling Day 2016

As the use of electronics in the Internet Age increases, so does e-waste. Find out how to get rid of yours in Essex County.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — As the use of electronics in the Internet Age increases, so does e-waste. Essex County residents seeking to get rid of old electronics and computer parts can safely do so at the county’s annual Computer and Electronics Recycling Day, slated for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, next to the old Hospital Center at 125 Fairview Avenue in Cedar Grove.

According to a county flyer, Essex County residents who are unable to bring electronic items to the Computer and Electronics Recycling Day can deliver their items free of charge to Advanced Recovery Inc. at 50 Grafton Avenue in Newark. For more information about the vendor, call 973-485-9100.

Commercial and large quantity users may not drop off items, officials stated.

County officials stated that acceptable items will include computers, fax machines, speakers, mainframes, DVD players, old cellular phones, monitors, scanners, televisions, VCRs, toasters, printers, telecom equipment, keyboards, stereos and irons.

Unacceptable items include smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms, officials said.
