Fire At Montclair Commercial Building; No Injuries, Officials Say

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A commercial building on Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair took damage during a fire last weekend, but no firefighters or civilians were injured, authorities said.

The Montclair Fire Department released a statement about the incident on Monday:

“On Saturday, Feb. 5 at 7:46 p.m., the Montclair Fire Department received notification that a smoke detector was sounding in a commercial building on Bloomfield Avenue. All occupants were out of the building upon MFD arrival. MFD units entered the building and located the fire in one of the building’s suites. MFD units quickly extinguished the fire. There were varying degrees of damage to the entire building. A unit from Bloomfield helped bring the fire under control, units from West Orange and Clifton covered the township for the duration of the incident. There weren’t any reported firefighter or civilian injuries. The last unit cleared the scene at 9:50 p.m.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Montclair fire officials said. No additional information was immediately available.
