The Smashburger restaurant in Glen Ridge closed down for repairs after several employees reported getting sick from a gas leak, police say.

Glen Ridge, NJ – The Smashburger restaurant in Glen Ridge closed down to perform repairs after several employees reported getting sick from a gas leak on Memorial Day, authorities say.
According to the Glen Ridge Police Department, the Montclair Fire Department and Glen Ridge Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded along with GRPD officers to the restaurant’s location at 989 Bloomfield Avenue.
On arrival, emergency responders found several employees who reported feeling ill, possibly from a gas leak inside the restaurant, authorities said.

Emergency responders provided medical treatment to the affected workers, while fire crews and PSE&G workers checked the premises for natural gas or carbon monoxide with negative results, police said.
According to police, the restaurant was closed as a safety precaution, and a small gas leak was later located by a fire official.
