Glen Ridge Police Announce Passing Of Retired Captain: James Sheridan
The Glen Ridge Police Department recently bid farewell to one of its own, retired Captain James Sheridan.

Glen Ridge, NJ – The Glen Ridge Police Department recently bid farewell to one of its own, retired Captain James Sheridan.
Glen Ridge police provided the following statement in memory of Sheridan:
“The Glen Ridge Police Department regrets to announce the passing of retired Captain James Sheridan on May 20. Captain Sheridan served the Glen Ridge Police Department from October of 1951 to July of 1980 when he retired in good standing. He was a veteran, having served in the Marines during World War Two and the Korean War. During his 29 year career, Captain Sheridan rose through the ranks with exception. He received numerous commendations, including developing the first Officer Performance Evaluation System for department personnel. It is with a heavy heart that the members of the Police Department and the community of Glen Ridge mourn the loss of this great man, community leader, and great officer.”
