Group Of Teens Beat, Rob Montclair Man On Forest Street: Police

A Montclair man says that a group of teenagers beat him and stole his wallet and cellphone during a "strongarm robbery" on Forest Street.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A Montclair man reported that a group of teenagers beat him and stole his wallet and cellphone during a “strongarm robbery” on Forest Street last weekend, police say.

According to the Montclair Police Department, the robbery took place around 2 a.m. on Saturday as the 26-year-old male victim was walking on Forest Street near Claremont Avenue. At that time, five males – later described as teenagers – converged on him and began punching and kicking him, police said.

The teens stole the man’s wallet and cellphone then fled the area on foot. Police said that the victim sustained minor injuries during the robbery.
