MONTCLAIR, NJ — Cities and counties across the country continue to bring back many of the traditional Independence Day activities that were either canceled or modified the last two years. July 4 is just around the corner, so it's time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near Montclair in 2022.

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the popular Montclair 4th of July parade and town picnic will return for 2022.
The parade will kick off at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 4. It will be dedicated to the memory of Al Pelham, the late community leader who passed away last year. The grand marshals will be two local groups: Toni’s Kitchen and the Human Needs Food Pantry. Learn more here.

According to organizers, here’s the route:
“Starting on North Fullerton Avenue near the Montclair Public Library, to west on Bloomfield Avenue, then north for the entire length of Midland Avenue … we turn onto Watching Avenue to head over to the reviewing stand at Edgemont Park.”
The township picnic will follow at Edgemont Park.
ESSEX COUNTY FIREWORKS/CONCERTS
Essex County's popular, free fireworks and concert series will return for 2022, officials recently announced. Read More: Summer Concert Series Includes 3 Fireworks Shows
The county's annual SummerMusic Concert Series brings a diverse group of musicians and entertainers together to perform at locations throughout the Essex County Park System. There will be three "fireworks spectaculars" held after concerts this year:
- Friday, June 24 (at 7:30 p.m.) - Branch Brook Park in Newark/Belleville. New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, followed by a fireworks spectacular.
- Tuesday, June 28 (at 7:30 p.m.) - Weequahic Park in Newark. Lady Supreme: A Diana Ross Experience, followed by a fireworks spectacular.
- Friday, July 1 (at 7:30 p.m.) - Brookdale Park in Bloomfield/Montclair. The Infernos followed by a fireworks spectacular.
Concerts are held at accessible sites. People who require special accommodations or assistance should call at least two weeks prior to the concert to alert staff as to their needs. Admission to the concerts is free. For more information, call the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs at 973‑268-3500.
