Learn About 2023 Proposed Montclair Town Budget At Public Workshop

Montclair residents can learn more about the proposed town budget – including a potential tax hike.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Want to learn more about the proposed town budget in Montclair, including a potential tax hike? Mark Monday, May 8 down on your calendar.

Township CFO Padmaja Rao, acting township manager Brian Scantlebury and financial consultant Bob Benecke will host a public presentation on the 2023 proposed municipal budget from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers at 205 Claremont Avenue.

The presentation will also be posted on the Montclair TV34 YouTube channel (see below).

Montclair homeowners would face an increase of nearly 2 percent to the municipal portion of their property taxes under an early draft of the town budget, officials announced in March. Read More: Tax Increase In Montclair's Future Under Proposed Town Budget

If it passes as written, the budget would mean a $100 tax increase for a property valued at $633,600. The $99.99 million spending plan is up almost 5 percent from last year.
