Long-Awaited Skate Park Opens In Montclair Amid Pandemic

Montclair's young skateboarding fans have been trying to get a skate park built in the township for more than a decade.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A long-awaited skate park has opened in Montclair amid the coronavirus pandemic.

It’s been a long time coming for the new facility at Rand Park on North Fullerton Avenue, which is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Montclair’s young skateboarding fans have been trying to get a skate park built in the township for more than a decade.

Last week, local officials paid tribute to that long journey during a ribbon cutting ceremony at the park. Followed by a skatejam and contests, the ceremony included members of the Montclair High School Skate Club, who gave new life to the cause a few years ago and have been advocating for the park ever since.
