‘Maybe I Do’: Montclair Was A Popular Filming Spot For New Movie

A new romantic comedy was filmed exclusively in New Jersey – and Montclair was a favorite shooting destination for producers.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A new romantic comedy, “Maybe I Do,” was filmed exclusively in New Jersey – and Montclair was a favorite shooting destination for producers, state officials say.

According to the New Jersey Motion Picture and TV Commission, some Hollywood heavyweights were frequently in Essex, Union, Hudson and Passaic counties while filming the multigenerational romantic comedy, which features a cast that includes Diane Keaton, Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, Emma Roberts, Luke Bracey and William H. Macy. Edison native Michael Jacobs wrote and directed the film.

Produced by Endeavor Content, the movie was released in theaters on Jan. 27. It is being screened at The Clairidge in Montclair (learn more here).

The movie was shot primarily in Montclair at homes on Mountain Avenue and Edgemont Road, and at The George and MC Hotels. Other filming locations include the Cranford Theater and Craven BBQ in Cranford, Battello Restaurant in Jersey City, Crystal Plaza in Livingston, the Nutley Diner in Nutley, the Sandy Hill section of Paterson, and the Red Roof Motel in Secaucus. The film also shot exterior scenes at 17 Post House Road in Morristown, and rented the private parking lot at Wightman’s Farm in Harding for production vehicles.

“We’re excited to see so many New Jersey communities and businesses featured on the big screen in ‘Maybe I Do,’” Secretary of State Tahesha Way said.

“This project demonstrates, yet again, that New Jersey is a great place to make movies,” Way added.
