Montclair Car Burglaries Reported; Cameras, Cash, Sunglasses

Thefts took place on Claremont Avenue, Glen Ridge Parkway, Orange Road, Grenada Place and Glenridge Avenue, Montclair police said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Several Montclair residents reported car burglaries over the past weeks, including incidents on Claremont Avenue, Glen Ridge Parkway, Orange Road, Grenada Place and Glenridge Avenue, police said.

According to the Montclair Police Department, the following incidents were recently reported in the township:

  • 9/28/2018 (Claremont Ave) – “A resident reported his Toyota Prius was entered sometime in May and approximately $1,500 in camera equipment was stolen.”
  • 9/28/2018 (Glen Ridge Parkway) – “A wallet and clutch were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Glen Ridge Parkway. Cash and miscellaneous cards were removed. The suspect is described as a black male, late teens/early twenties, 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches, wearing a denim jacket and a dark-colored fanny pack.”
  • 10/1/2018 (Orange Rd) - An Orange Rd resident reported her unlocked Honda Accord was entered overnight. $150 air of sunglasses and loose change were stolen. The suspect is described as a black male wearing a red hat and a dark-colored track suit with stripes going down the sides.”
  • 10/01/2018 (Grenada Place) – “A resident reported her unlocked vehicle was entered overnight and rummaged through. No items were reported missing.”
  • 10/01/2018 (Glenridge Avenue) – “An unlocked vehicle was entered while parked in the Bay Street extension lot. Cash and miscellaneous cards were removed.”
