Montclair Car Crash Shorts Battery, Causes Fire

Montclair fire officials said the blaze began when two vehicles collided on Grove Street.

Montclair, NJ - Montclair fire units responded to a car blaze that resulted from a motor vehicle accident on Wednesday.

According to the Montclair Fire Department, the accident occurred in front of 139 Grove Street around 1:44 p.m.

According to Deputy Chief Robert Duncan, fire officials determined that the blaze was caused when the accident caused a short in the vehicle’s battery, which ignited the acid gases coming from the cracked battery.

No injuries were reported at the scene, firefighters stated.
