Montclair firefighters extinguished a car blaze on North Fullerton Avenue, but not before flames fully engulfed the engine, authorities say.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair firefighters extinguished a car fire on North Fullerton Avenue on Monday morning, but not before the flames fully engulfed the engine and caused serious damage to the vehicle, authorities say.

According to the Montclair Fire Department, the fire took place around 7:49 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find the car’s engine compartment fully engulfed in flames.

After quickly extinguishing the fire, emergency responders found that it may have been caused by “the ignition of leaking power steering fluid that came into contact with the exhaust system,” authorities said.
