Montclair Carjacking: Bloomfield, Medford Residents Allegedly Robbed At Gunpoint

A pair of residents from Bloomfield and Medford reported that they were carjacked at gunpoint a day after Christmas in Montclair, police say

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A pair of residents from Bloomfield and Medford reported that they were carjacked at gunpoint a day after Christmas in Montclair, police say.

According to the Montclair Police Department, a 24-year-old Bloomfield woman and a 24-year-old Medford man told officers that they were parked in a 2010 Subaru Legacy in the Midtown Plaza parking lot around 7:13 p.m. when two men pulled alongside them in a black Jeep Liberty.

The men – who were each reportedly armed with a handgun - approached their car and ordered them to get out of the vehicle, police said. The suspects then allegedly sped away from the scene in both cars.

Neither victim suffered injury during the alleged carjacking, police said.

Police said the vehicle was later recovered unoccupied in Newark.

The victims described the first suspect as a black male about 5 feet 10 inches with long dreadlocks, and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and skullcap.

The victims described the second suspect as a black male about 5 feet 6 inches, wearing a grey-hooded sweatshirt and skullcap.
