Montclair, Clifton Food Pantries Get Donation For Muslim Holiday
An effort to honor the meaning of Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha resulted in a big win for food pantries in Montclair and Clifton.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A New Jersey nonprofit’s effort to honor the meaning of Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha resulted in a big win for two North Jersey food pantries earlier this week.
On Tuesday, Mel Turk of the Peace Island Institute was joined by state assembly members Britnee Timberlake and Thomas Giblin during visits to Toni’s Kitchen in Montclair and St. Peter’s Haven in Clifton. During the visits, a hefty donation of fresh meat was gifted to the food pantries, which will use them to feed in-need local residents.
Timberlake praised the “diversity” of her home district, which encompasses Clifton, East Orange, Montclair and Orange.

According to Timberlake, the donations were made in honor of the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha, which was observed on August 21 to August 22 for 2018. During that time, a sacrifice of meat is made and one-third of it is given to those who are less fortunate.
