Montclair Cops, Peers Join Opioid Awareness Walk To Fight Addiction

MONTCLAIR, NJ — The Montclair Police Department recently took part in an “Opioid Awareness Walk” to help raise awareness about the life-threatening risks associated with opioids and fentanyl.

Montclair Police Department Chief Todd Conforti joined Robin Lavorato, executive director of the Essex Health and Wellness Recovery Center, at the walk, which took place on Oct. 26.

Also participating were members of the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and police departments in Newark, Bloomfield, Verona, Caldwell, Belleville and Verona.

“The Montclair Police Department has been partnering with Robin for many years and the department is now in a better position to assist people with substance use disorders with programs like Operation Hope to help people get treatment and recovery services,” Chief Todd Conforti said.
