Montclair Event: 2024 Lantern Festival For Justice And Remembrance

AAPI New Jersey is excited to welcome community members to our fourth annual Lantern Festival for Justice and Remembrance at Edgemont Park in Montclair on Sunday, May 19, 2024 from 6 to 9 p.m. (rain date: June 9). Join us for an evening of performances, speakers, family friendly activities, food vendors and more as we illuminate the park with thousands of lanterns to remember those killed and harmed by violence and injustice, including anti-Asian hate. We stand together against all forms of hate and look forward to celebrating community, solidarity, and our shared goals of securing justice for all.

Admission is free with donations accepted at https://givebutter.com/lanternfestival2024. Additional event details will be posted on https://aapimontclair.org in the coming weeks.

With the support of our community, we hope to cover the cost of the event, enhance and expand our AAPI Heritage Month programming, and support our statewide advocacy and education work. Your generosity will support initiatives including:

• Large-scale public events that build solidarity, raise the visibility of AAPI issues, and help educate our wider community about AAPI culture and history
• Youth programs that offer our children spaces for exploring the joy, pride, and complexities of being Asian American
• Advocacy and public safety support, including free self-defense classes, community upstander trainings, and work advancing AAPI civic engagement, representation, and civil rights
