Montclair Firefighters Battle Blaze In Snowstorm (VIDEO)

Montclair firefighters battled a blaze with the help of their peers from Bloomfield, East Orange, Cedar Grove, Little Falls and Clifton.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair firefighters battled a house fire at Valley Road and Walnut Street amid last week’s snowstorm, which caused car crashes across Essex County and wreaked general havoc in the area.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, authorities said.

According to the Montclair Fire Department, it received simultaneous calls about a house fire around 5:22 p.m. on Nov. 15. Arriving firefighters quickly realized that individuals were actually reporting a fire at the same location from different vantage points.

The MFD gave the following account of the blaze:

“Units arrived to find heavy fire venting out of the front, back and side of the house and called a 2nd alarm. It took roughly two hours to bring the fire under control. The first, second and third floors sustained heavy fire, smoke and water damage. Units from Bloomfield, East Orange, Cedar Grove, Little Falls and Clifton helped to bring the fire under control and provide coverage for the town.”

According to the MFD, a firefighter was injured battling the blaze. There were no reported civilian injuries.
