Montclair Firefighters Combat Office Blaze On Church Street

The rear deck of the building was burning when Montclair firefighters arrived, authorities say.

Montclair, NJ – Montclair firefighters combated flames and helped to contain damage from a Friday evening blaze at an office building on Church Street, authorities stated.

Montclair firefighters arrived at 24 Church Street around 6:15 p.m. to find heavy smoke coming from the rear of the building on the second floor.

“The rear deck of the building was burning and beginning to extend to other parts of the structure,” Deputy Chief Robert Duncan stated. “MFD units extinguished the fire and overhauled the area.”

According to Duncan, fire damage was contained to the structure of the deck, the fascia of the building, and slight smoke damage in several offices on the second and third floors.

No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze, authorities stated.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
