Montclair History Center Asks For Help Recovering From Storm

Spring can't come quick enough, according to the Montclair History Center.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Spring can’t come quick enough, according to the Montclair History Center (MHC).

While it’s safe to say that most Montclair residents are tired of the winter weather after a series of late-season snowstorms rocked the township, the MHC has particularly good reason to look forward to some sunshine.

On Wednesday, the MHC announced that it’s asking for donations to help it recover from several instances of property damage suffered during the recent storms. (Click here to support their effort)

According to an email fundraising appeal from the MHC:

“After the storms, tree branches were strewn around the property, a large branch fell on the Montclair Community farm site, and a fallen tree blocked the driveway of the Shultz House. The biggest threat, however, was a 30+ foot diseased tree that splintered during the storm and began to lean dangerously, threatening the Crane House and Historic YWCA. We held our collective breath between the storms as we waited for a tree service to come and take it down. Thank goodness, the second storm spared both the tree and the museum, and they were able to take the tree down before the third storm hit. Crisis averted. Sort of. The thousands of dollars needed to clean up our sites is way beyond our budget for storm damage and snow removal. We are asking for help from the community to help offset these costs.”
