Montclair Holds Hearing For Nishuane Park Playground Plan (VIDEO)

Montclair is seeking state funding to build a "completely inclusive playground" at the park.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — The Montclair Town Council recently held a public hearing for a proposal to build a “completely inclusive playground” at Nishuane Park, which could come to fruition if the town scores some state funding.

Last month, the township announced that it is seeking funds through the New Jersey Green Acres Program to make improvements at Nishuane Park, located at 48 High Street.

If it crosses the finish line, the project would create a “completely inclusive playground” that includes state-of-the-art accessible equipment, new safety surfacing, seating, perimeter fencing and other improvements.

Norberto Hernandez of Neglia Engineering offered some details about the plan at the council’s meeting on Jan. 30 (watch the footage below, video is cued to the presentation).

The last reconstruction at the “underserved” playground was done in 2004, Hernandez said.
