Montclair House Fire Extinguished, Causes Heavy Damage: MFD
Montclair firefighters extinguished a blazing house fire on South Mountain Avenue.
Montclair, NJ – Montclair firefighters extinguished a blazing house fire on South Mountain Avenue on Tuesday afternoon, authorities stated.
According to the Montclair Fire Department, fire crews arrived on the scene around 11:45 a.m. to find heavy volumes of smoke emanating from the 3rd floor of the home.
Authorities said that the occupants of the home were in the process of self-evacuating when firefighters arrived, and that there were no injuries to the residents or emergency responders.

However, the flames extended from the 3rd floor to the roof, causing heavy fire damage to the area, smoke damage to the 3rd floor and water damage throughout, authorities said.
Units from Newark, West Orange, East Orange, Clifton, Bloomfield, Cedar Grove helped to bring the blaze under control, authorities stated.

The cause of the fire was an electrical short in the ceiling of the second floor master bedroom, Montclair fire officials stated.
