In Montclair: Large Road Construction Project Starts April 25

Montclair, NJ – Get ready to learn a different route to work, Montclair.

Starting Monday, April 25 – weather permitting – the township will embark on a large milling and paving project that is estimated will last about four weeks, according to a municipal news release.

“Every effort will be made to minimize inconvenience however this project will cause a disruption of normal routines and schedules,” town officials warned.

During this construction period, several streets will be closed at various times, including:

  • Brookwood Drive (North, South, West)
  • Warman Street
  • Howe Avenue
  • Graham Terrace
  • Sutherland
  • Harrison Avenue (West Orange Border to Llewellyn Road)
  • Franklin Avenue
  • Homewood Way
  • Southern Terrace
  • Charles Street
  • Tichenor Place

According to a township news release, milling and paving operations will begin around 7 a.m.

Portions of the street will be closed during these construction periods but limited access will be provided to residents. Police officers will be directing traffic during the milling and paving operations.

Commuters in the affected areas should expect delays, town officials stated.

According to town officials, parking on the street is prohibited during construction activities, but is allowed when the contractor is not working, such as evenings and weekends. Residents can expect delays getting in and out due to construction activity.

In addition, residents in the affected areas will not be able to use their driveways during the time the milling and paving is actually being completed. Commuters who require immediate access to their vehicle during the day should park in a different location before 7 a.m. on construction days.

“If there is a problem and the township inspector is not on-site, we ask that you do not approach the contractor but immediately call the Department of Community Services at 973-509-5711,” officials stated. “The inspector will contact you by phone within a short time.”
