Montclair Man Caught With Stolen Umbrellas, Bikes: Police

Montclair police are searching for the owners of the two allegedly stolen bikes.

Montclair, NJ – Montclair police arrested a local man after catching him in possession of two allegedly stolen umbrellas and bicycles last week.

According to the Montclair Police Department, a witness reportedly saw a man riding a bicycle on Draper Terrace. The man – who was allegedly carrying another bicycle under his arm – left the bikes and walked into the backyard of a home.

The witness told police that the man allegedly returned with two umbrellas and fled towards Madison Avenue with the items.

Police later found William Estelle, 21, of Montclair, in possession of the allegedly stolen bikes and umbrellas, authorities said.

According to police, officers determined that the items were stolen from the front porch of a Draper Terrace home.

The allegedly stolen bikes are:

  • A red, BMX-style ‘Next” brand
  • A blue, 10-speed “Free Spirit Dynasty”

Authorities charged Estelle with criminal trespass and theft. He was also found to have a no-bail warrant out of the Essex County Sheriff’s Office and a $1,000 warrant out of Livingston.
