Montclair Man Charged In Connection With Newark Shooting
Police have charged a Montclair man in connection with a shooting that took place in Newark.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Police have charged a Montclair man in connection with a shooting that took place in Newark on Tuesday, authorities say.
According to the Newark Police Department, around 9:55 p.m., officers near the intersection of Clinton and Johnson avenues heard multiple gunshots coming from the area of Avon Avenue and Irvine Turner Boulevard.
No one was injured in this incident, police said.

Authorities said that witnesses reported a male driving a white vehicle was involved in the weapon discharge. Officers observed the alleged vehicle, driven by Kasim McDonald, 26, of Montclair, and conducted a motor vehicle stop.
Detectives investigating the shooting obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and recovered an illegal handgun.

McDonald was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Certain Persons Prohibited from Weapon Possession.
