Montclair Man Shot Dead In Newark, NJ

Police reportedly found George R. Allen III, 42, of Montclair, suffering from a gunshot wound and "unresponsive" inside a parked car.

Montclair, NJ – Authorities are investigating a shooting in Newark on Sunday afternoon that left a Montclair man dead.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Newark police officers were dispatched to the area of 48 Van Ness Place around 2:30 p.m. on a report of a shooting.

On arrival, officers found George R. Allen III, 42, of Montclair, suffering from a gunshot wound and “unresponsive” inside a parked car.

Emergency responders transported Allen to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:15 p.m., authorities stated.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is conducting an investigation into the incident.
