Montclair Police: Armed Robbery Reported Near Irving Street and Orange Road

The teen victim told police that he was struck in the head with a gun, Montclair police said.

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair Police Department is seeking two men who reportedly robbed an 18-year-old male at gunpoint early Monday morning.

According to the Montclair Police Department, the victim reported that he was walking on Irving Street near Orange Road around 5:38 a.m. when two men approached him, one of whom was allegedly armed with a black handgun with a long barrel.

After demanding that the victim hand over his money, one of the men struck him on the side of the head with what he believed to be a gun, police said.

The suspects stole cash, a gold chain and an iPod shuffle during the encounter, then fled towards Orange Road in a blue Volkswagen with a third suspect behind the wheel, police stated.

The victim refused medical evaluation at the scene, police said.

The victim described the first suspect as a light-complexioned black male, 20 to 25-years-old, about 5 feet 10 inches in height with a thin build.  The second suspect was described as a dark-complexioned black male, about 5 feet 10 inches in height with a thin build.
