Montclair Police Blotter: April 19 to 24

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are reprinted directly from the Montclair police blotter, a listing of selected reports that may not include the full scope of activity in the area. All of the following incidents are accusations, and all suspects should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

4-19-2016 (Fairfield Street) - A 60-year-old woman from Montclair was arrested and charged with DWI.

4-19-2016 (Valley Road) - Theft from an unlocked motor vehicle. A wallet was taken in this incident.

4-19-2016 (Hawthorne Place) - A large tree fell and damaged three vehicles. It also took down a parking lot light pole. PSE&G responded and addressed the issue.

4-20-2016 (Claremont Avenue) - Vandalism to a motor vehicle. Unknown person scratched the sides and hood of a 2015 Volkswagen.

4-21-2016 (Cross Street) - Attempted burglary to a vacant residence. Entry was gained through the front door. It is unknown if anything was taken in this incident.

4-21-2016 (CVS, Valley Road) - A 28-year-old woman from Montclair was arrested and charged with shoplifting numerous personal hygiene items.

4-24-2016 (Elm Street) - Richard Chinn, 26, of Montclair, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault. This arrest was the result of an investigation into an incident that occurred on 4-23-2016 on Claremont Avenue. During that incident, a 45yoa Montclair man was assaulted by Mr. Chinn, sustaining facial and head injuries. He was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
