Montclair Police Blotter: April 12 to 18

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are reprinted directly from the Montclair police blotter, a listing of selected reports that may not include the full scope of activity in the area. All of the following incidents are accusations, and all suspects should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
4-12-2016 (CVS, Bloomfield Avenue) - Shoplifting of numerous personal hygiene items. The suspect is described as a black male approximately 30 to 45 years of age, with a thin build, approximately 5 feet 10 inches in height, wearing dark sweat pants, a black jacket and an orange-hooded sweatshirt.
4-12-2016 (YMCA, Glenridge Avenue) - Theft of a cellular phone from a backpack in the gymnasium.

4-13-2016 (Bloomfield Avenue) - Theft of a decorative statue from a store display. A group of patrons reportedly concealed the statue and removed it from the establishment.
4-14-2016 (Watching Avenue) – An 18-year-old Orange man was arrested and charged with theft for stealing a charitable donation jar from a business on Watchung Avenue.

4-14-2016 (Watchung School) - Vandalism to playground equipment on school property. Graffiti was spray painted on numerous areas.
4-15-2016 (Carey Court) - Theft from a motor vehicle. A laptop and tablet were taken in this incident. No sign of forced entry.
4-15-2016 (Carey Court) - Attempted theft from a motor vehicle. Access was gained to an unlocked vehicle, but nothing was reported missing.
4-16-2016 (Watchung Field House) - Vandalism to the sidewalk. Graffiti was spray painted in numerous areas on the sidewalk.
4-17-2016 (ACME, Valley Road) - Theft of a wallet from a shopping cart inside the store.
4-18-2016 (Maple Avenue) - Attempted theft of a Chevy Impala. The vehicles ignition was damaged in this incident.
4-18-2016 (Pine Street) - A 50-year-old Montclair woman was arrested on open warrants out of Montclair ($1,500) and Wayne ($500)
