Montclair Residents Report Home Burglary, Multiple Thefts: Police

Montclair police say residents reported a burglary on Union Street and thefts on Plymouth, Church, Wheeler and Bloomfield.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair residents experienced a burglary and several thefts in the township last week, police say. According to the Montclair Police Department, the following incidents were reported:

  • 8-24-2016 (Union Street) - Burglary to an apartment. Access was gained by damaging a door. Cash was taken in this incident.
  • 8-24-2016 (Plymouth Street) - Theft from a motor vehicle. A bookbag full of books was taken. No sign of forced entry.
  • 8-27-2016 (Church Street) - Theft of a cellular phone. A male on a bicycle approached the victim and asked to borrow his phone. When the victim handed over his phone, the suspect rode off with it. The suspect is described as black male around 40-years-old, about 5 feet 1 inch with a thin build, and wearing "army/navy" pants, jeans and a baseball cap.
  • 8-27-2016 (Wheeler Street) - Theft of five, 40-foot extension ladders from the rear of a residence.
  • 8-28-2016 (Bloomfield Avenue) - Theft of a bicycle from the rear of a business. The suspect is described as a black male with a medium build, wearing a black baseball hat with white lettering, a brown or black t-shirt and dark-colored pants.
  • 8-28-2016 (Bloomfield Avenue) - Theft of a Siri radio transmitter from an unlocked vehicle.
