Montclair School District Bids Farewell To Its Longest-Serving Worker
Lynda Alves worked for more than a half-century in the personnel office before her retirement. She is "admired and loved," her peers say.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — The Montclair Public School District has bid a fond farewell to its longest-serving employee, Lynda Alves.
Alves retired Friday after working for 53 years in the district's personnel office, administrators said. A Montclair native, she attended Hillside (when it was a K-8 school) and graduated from Montclair High School.
After business school and a stint with a pharmaceutical company, Alves joined the personnel office in 1970. By the middle of that decade, she’d rose to the position of executive secretary to the personnel director, a job she held for the rest of her career.
