Montclair Shopper Foils Purse Snatching At Kings Supermarket: Police

A Montclair shopper foiled an attempted purse snatching at Kings supermarket on Valley Road Sunday, police say.

Montclair, NJ – A Montclair shopper foiled an attempted purse snatching at the Kings supermarket on Valley Road Sunday, police say.

According to the Montclair Police Department, the female victim was in the parking lot placing groceries in her car when another woman allegedly approached and asked if she could spare any money for bus fare.

The suspect then grabbed the victim’s pocketbook and knocked her to the ground, police said.

After the would-be victim put up a struggle, the suspect fled the parking lot without the pocketbook, police stated.

The victim described her assailant as a white female, 20 to 25-years-old, 5 feet 6 inches and 125 pounds, “very pale with facial acne,” and wearing a hooded sweatshirt (inside out with a white tag showing) and dark colored jeans.
