Montclair Skate Park Gets Round Of Applause At Council Meeting

WATCH: Montclair's popular skate park – and the people who made it possible – got a big shout-out during a town council meeting.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair’s popular skate park – and the people who made it possible – got a big shout-out during the town council meeting on Tuesday.

Montclair’s young skateboarding fans and their supporters had tried to get a skate park built in the township for more than a decade before the new facility opened at Rand Park on North Fullerton Avenue in 2020. Read More: Long-Awaited Skate Park Opens In Montclair Amid Pandemic

Since then, the park has seen several big milestones, including the installation of Candy Courts, a series of seven unique, “skateable” sculptures designed by Olympian Alexis Sablone (watch a video of the grand opening below).

More improvements are planned for the future, officials say.

On Tuesday, Montclair council members read a proclamation, giving a “thank you” to a long list of community groups and residents who have been advocating for skateboarding in the town. Watch the video below.
