How, why and for whom art is made and shared in the 21st century impacts students, artists and educators. Those who make art and teach art are at the intersections of expanding demographics and values, new experiences and practices, and changing perspectives and voices. The interconnections of their practices as artists and as educators, distinctly position artist educators in socially engaged art, democracy and equality.

"Art and Democracy" is the collaboration of an artist-educator group who acknowledges the need to expand beyond the classroom and beyond traditional art venues with the goal of engaging more voices, more perspectives. Artists-educators Rachel Baron, Wendy Born, Karen Goldberg, Rachael Kelly, Keiko Shimizu-Johnson, John Mungiello, Amanda Reid, Denisse Soto will participate in the Art and Democracy show. Bios will be available at the show; works for sale will be identified.
