Montclair Thefts Include Handicap Parking Placard, Jewelry, Bikes
Montclair residents reported several thefts. See what was allegedly stolen here.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair residents have reported several cases of theft and attempted burglaries in the township over the past weeks, authorities say.
According to the Montclair Police Department, the following incidents were recently reported in the township:
- 8-7-2017 (Walnut Street) Theft of a bicycle which had been locked to the Train Station bike rack.
- 8-8-2017 (Walnut Street) Theft of an unlocked bicycle from the rear yard of a residence.
- 8-8-2017 (North Willow Street) Theft of a delivered package from the front of a residence. This package contained personal electronics.
- 8-8-2017 (South Mountain Avenue) Theft of loose change from an unlocked motor vehicle.
- 8-9-2017 (Pierson Place) Theft of a delivered package from the front porch of a residence.
- 8-9-2017 (Madeline, South Park Street) A 25-year-old man from Orange was arrested for shoplifting numerous pieces of jewelry from the store.
- 8-10-2017 (South Willow Street) Burglary to an unlocked residential garage. A bicycle was taken in this incident.
- 8-13-2017 (Elmwood Avenue) Theft from an unlocked vehicle. A cellular phone charger was taken.
- 8-13-2017 (Orange Road) Theft from an unlocked motor vehicle. A wallet was taken in this incident.
- 8-13-2017 (Tichenor Place) Theft of tools from an unlocked vehicle.
- 8-13-2017 (Maple Avenue) Theft of an unsecured bicycle from the rear yard of a residence.
- 8-14-2017 (Miller Street) An unlocked vehicle was rummaged through. It is unknown if anything was taken.
- 8-14-2017 (North Willow Street, Alex and Leo Auto) Attempted burglary to a commercial establishment. A window was smashed in this incident. It does not appear that anything was taken.
- 8-14-2017 (Cross Street) Theft of a Handicap Parking Placard from an unlocked motor vehicle.
- 8-14-2017 (Lexington Avenue) Theft of a bicycle, which had been secured to a vehicle mounted bike carrier.
- 8-15-2017 (Walnut Train Station) Theft of a bicycle, which had been left secured to the station bike rack.
- 8-16-2017 (Park Street) Theft of a bicycle from a residential garage. The suspect was described as an African-American male between 40 and 60-years-old with black and gray shoulder-length hair.
- 8-17-2017 (Woodland Avenue) Theft of a wallet from a motor vehicle. There was no sign of forced entry in this incident.
- 8-18-2017 (Walnut Street) Theft of a laptop bag from an unlocked motor vehicle.
