The Montclair Women’s Club will kick off the 2023-24 “Friday Afternoon Speaker Series” on Friday, Oct. 13 at 1:30 p.m. with the return of Dr. Jonathan Caspi, a therapist with a private practice and a professor of Family Science and Human Development at Montclair State University. Previously Caspi offered a riveting presentation about sibling relationships. He returns with a talk from a new class he is teaching that will focus on the latest research to help us understand what has been called an “epidemic of anxiety.”
Anxiety is the most common mental health challenge in the United States. Research reports as high as one in three people experience so much anxiety that it interferes with daily life functioning. This talk will present different ways to think about anxiety and offer strategies to help best navigate an often-disruptive experience. He will also discuss how anxiety manifests in romantic couples, parenting and in society.
