Montclair's U14 Baseball Team Rocks Madison To Advance In Playoffs

Montclair goes after Madison in great game.

The third place Montclair U-14 baseball team used a blistering combination of strong pitching, clutch hitting with aggressive fielding to beat sixth place Madison Saturday to advance in the double elimination playoffs. The final score was 9-3.

The Montclair U-14 team is the highest age group of the pre-high school level U teams that is organized and run by the Montclair Baseball and Softball Club. This is a competitive travel baseball team that runs from 8U  through 14U. The Montclair Baseball and Softball Club also runs the American Legion summer teams. The U baseball team program is a way to groom ambitious and talented players before they get into high school.

To stay competitive many towns recruit players from outside of their districts to attract the best players. However, according to Coach Andy Giuliano of the Montclair U-14 team, "the thing we pride ourselves on in Montclair is that all our kids are from Montclair ... we have enough talent."
