N.J. Hairstylist Pepper Sprays Client During Argument: Police
The woman reportedly advertises her services on Craiglist under the name "Freddy," police say.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Bloomfield police have arrested a New Jersey hairstylist who allegedly pepper sprayed an unsatisfied client in the face during an argument, authorities announced Tuesday.
The hairstylist, Maryam Simpson, 35, of Belleville, reportedly advertises her services on Craiglist under the name “Freddy,” according to the Bloomfield Police Department.
Police said that the alleged assault took place when Simpson and a client that she met via Craigslist got into an argument about the quality of her services.

At that time, “the client was sprayed in the face with pepper spray” and Simpson fled the scene before officers arrived, police said.
A Bloomfield detective was later able to identify “Freddy” as Simpson, which eventually led to her arrest on Monday, police stated.

Authorities charged Simpson with Aggravated Assault and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (pepper spray). She was released from custody after posting bail in the amount of $35,000 with a 10 percent option.
Simpson also had an active Rutherford warrant in the amount of $1,000 which was also posted, police said.
