Pine Tar And The Yankees: Montclair Journalist Recalls The George Brett Incident

Filip Bondy will speak at the Yogi Berra Museum on Sunday.

Award-winning journalist Filip Bondy will discuss the one of the wackiest moments in baseball history, the “Pine Tar Game,” at 1 p.m. at the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center on Aug. 9.

The presentation will be followed by a signing of Bondy’s new book, “The Pine Tar Game, the Kansas City Royals, the New York Yankees, and Baseball’s Most Absurd and Entertaining Controversies.”

A New York Daily News columnist and Montclair resident, Bondy examines a broader scope of the infamous 1983 Royals-Yankees game in his book, which was encapsulated when George Brett’s game-winning home run was nullified because of excessive pine tar on his bat.
