Port Authority Announces DWI Checkpoints: GWB, Lincoln and Holland Tunnels
Port Authority police will conduct DWI checkpoints going in and out of NYC on Sept. 3 and 4.

The Port Authority Police Department announced that it will conduct DWI checkpoints at its Hudson River crossings from about 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, to 6 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4.
According to Port Authority officials, drivers at the George Washington Bridge, Lincoln Tunnel and Holland Tunnel will be subject to random inspection during the above dates and times.
“The purpose of the DWI checkpoint is to deter and apprehend anyone who operates a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs,” Port Authority officials stated in a news release.

Police also plan to distribute literature on the dangers of driving while intoxicated as part of the effort, authorities said.
