2 In Custody After Montclair Shooting, Police Say (UPDATED)
A man is in critical condition after a shooting in Montclair. There is no danger to the public, Montclair police said.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — A man has been hospitalized and is in critical condition after being shot in Montclair on Tuesday, police said.
Police responded to a report of shots fired with a possible injured person near 50 Greenwood Avenue at 1:58 p.m. On arrival, officers found a 30-year-old Montclair resident lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds.
The officers immediately rendered medical aid to the man, until the Montclair Ambulance Unit arrived and took over, authorities said.

Emergency responders transported the wounded man to University Hospital in Newark, where he was listed in critical condition as of Tuesday evening.
Witnesses were able to provide police with a description of a suspect who fled from the scene, as well as which direction he ran towards. In addition, an officer at the scene saw a person who matched the same description. This person was detained and is currently in custody, and charges are pending, authorities said.

Police also have taken a second person who was allegedly involved in the shooting into custody. Charges are pending against this person as well, authorities said.
Police recovered multiple firearms in the area.
"This appears to be an isolated incident believed to be stemming from a dispute between individuals that knew each other, and there is no danger to the public," the Montclair Police Department stated.
