Succeed2gether’s Pathways Forward Welcomes New Director

Succeed2gether announced today that it has appointed Yasmine Perry as the new Director for its Pathways Forward Program. Yasmine, currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Family Science & Human Development at Montclair State University, brings a wealth of experience as an early childhood educator and middle-school tutor. Her knowledge of child and adolescent development and dedication to developing and evaluating educational programs for children and teens underscores her commitment to enhancing youth education.

“I am looking forward to meeting the Pathways Forward students and building on the existing program to offer support for as many students as possible,” said Yasmine. “I have a passion for empowering young minds and am committed to enhancing their educational journey by providing the necessary resources.”

Yasmine will be at the next Pathways Forward meeting on Monday January 8. All current and interested students, parents, and mentors are invited, with pizza served from 6.30 p.m. The meeting will start with an introduction to Yasmine, and then students in grades 8 to 10 and 11 to 12 will meet up and discuss specific concerns for the coming year.

Pathways Forward is a goal-oriented mentoring program for students from 8th grade through their first year after high school. Mentors are all volunteers from the community who help in guiding students to think and plan toward career and/or college. At the high-school level, college essay writing coaching is available to participants, along with advice about financial aid possibilities.

The Pathways Forward program, like Succeed2gether’s after-school tutoring program, is free for students from low and moderate-income families.

The program offers group meetings and information sessions, as well as workshops and hands-on, one-to-one mentoring and resource referrals for students and families.

Graduates of the program’s College Essay Writing initiative have already met with extraordinary success. Students were accepted at multiple colleges, and successfully started at institutions such as New Jersey Institute of Technology, Howard University, Skidmore, and the University of Vermont.
