Thefts And Burglaries: Montclair Police Have A Busy Week
Montclair saw 7 alleged thefts and a burglary last week, police reported.

The Montclair Police Department reported that the township saw seven alleged thefts and a home burglary last week.
According to police, the home burglary took place when a suspect stole a laptop computer from a Mission Street residence on Nov. 14. Police said that the suspects may have gained access to the home by prying open an entry door.
In addition to the burglary, Montclair police said that three separate thefts were reported on Nov. 10.

- According to authorities, a North Fullerton Avenue resident reported that someone entered their car – which was parked in an apartment building’s lot – and took a GPS unit and loose change.
- A Park Street resident reported a similar theft from an apartment building lot, and that the suspect took personal documents.
- In addition, police reported that a Mendl Terrace resident was the victim of package theft that day. According to authorities, a suspect intercepted a delivery driver and claimed to be the rightful recipient of a package. Police said that the suspect was able to produce what seemed to be the proper identification and the driver gave them the package, which contained an Apple MacBook Pro. The suspect’s identification was later discovered to be fake, police said.
Other reported thefts last week included:
- On Nov. 11, CVS store personnel at the Bloomfield Avenue location reported that a man with a goatee and a Dallas Cowboys baseball cap filled a garbage bag with diapers and fled the store. He was last seen running eastbound on Bloomfield Avenue, police said.
- On Nov. 12, a motorist reported that someone entered their unlocked vehicle and stole a purse containing $200 while they were parked in the store lot.
- On Nov. 13, a Highland Avenue resident reported that a package containing cleaning supplies was stolen from their front porch.
- On Nov. 14, a bicycle was reported stolen from the Renaissance School bike rack. Police said that the bike was not locked and that the theft happened after school hours.
